Seeing a Specialist for Suspicious Moles

I don’t really know a lot about skin cancer, but I do know that anytime anything appears suspicious on my skin, I am going to have it checked. I have too many friends and family members who have contracted one form or another of cancer. I spend a lot of time in the sun, which is why I was mostly concerned about skin cancer. When I saw a couple of odd looking marks on my skin a few weeks ago, I went online and looked up dermatology in Billings MT. I was not about to mess with it, especially since I have heard so many times that if cancer is caught early enough, it can usually be treated more successfully.

I am not paranoid, nor am I a hypochondriac. I am cautious though, and the dermatologist that I went to told me that it was a wise decision to come in. Thankfully, what I had was not cancer. I did learn a lot about skin cancer on my visit though, and I learned of different ways that I could protect myself from it. I was already using sunscreen, but I found out that I was using the wrong kind. In addition to that, I was also not using enough.

When a person spends a lot of time in the sun, they need to make sure that they use the right kind of sun protection and also make sure that it is applied more than just once a day. I am definitely taking better care of myself after seeing the dermatologist, and I am thankful that he was able to take care of the three moles that I thought might be cancerous. I am going to see him on a regular basis now since cancer does run in my family and I spend a lot of time outdoors!
